Eating out in Bristol/North Somerset

Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to go for a pub lunch in this area. I am looking for somewhere child friendly that serves good home cooked food. Preferably with an outside space for the children to play in. Have friends travelling down the M5 so looking for anywhere from South Glos to Clevedon. Thanks!

It's a little bit off the motorway, but our local is absolutely fab for eating out with kids. It's called the Royal Oak and it's on Gloucester Rd, Horfield, Bristol. Come off the motorway either on the Almondsbury Interchange (10 min drive straight down Glos Rd) or Horfield exit of M32 (5 min drive up Muller Rd).

It's got a great food menu for adults and children, not your typical crap you usually get in child friendly pubs, but more of a gastro-pub type thing going on. It has an astro-turfed play area outside with swings / wendy house / toys, large outdoor seating area and they are very child friendly. Be warned though, they only serve bar snacks between 3 and 6.

Thx. Will definately try this one too. Like you I can't bear some of the the 'food' that you get served at some of these child friendly places!

Had no idea such a place existed in Glouc Road!!

It opened last summer, it used to be a scary pub called the John Cabot but is now all shiny and new and full of folk with Bugaboos

Bugaboos on Glouc Road?? Whatever next!

May take a wander down there with DH and DS at some point - it does sound quite good
