this has been going on for several years despite occasional success with an apple. eats veg ok. didn't much worry before, but she is lethargic, moody, negative, very pale(i would dispute oncoming puberty), & now we wonder if she's developing scurvy or anaemia. think it may be necessary to take her to the doctors.
does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can get her to even try fruits?

Will she eat fruit yogurt or sorbets?

At the age of ten it's only going to be rows if you enforce the fruit bowl at her.

Does she eat veg? If so then don't fret too much on the fruit.
What about fruity flapjacks? Fruity puds like apple tarts and crumbles? Hide the fruit in puds?

freeze fruit juice/smoothies into ice lollies

I'd say vegetables are more important that fruit and less sugary. She should be able to get plenty of vitamin C from her vegetables though some certainly contain more vitamin c than others.
Broccoli is particuarly high in vitamin C.Does she eat that?

I wouldn't worry about Scurvy,if she's eating vegetables. It's extremely rare in developed countries, anemia is certainly possible however and I'd have her tested for that. The dark green leafy vegetables are a good source of iron.

I'm not much of a fruit fan myself but will eat it occasionally.

When I do I soon get tired of eating whole fruit oranges and apples for example but will manage a whole apple if it's sliced but soon get bored of biting into an apple that hasn't been sliced.

I enjoy fruit salads occasionally too so those may be worth a try again rather than whole large fruit.

And try smoothies.

Red peppers are lovely when roasted and also particuarly rich in vitamin C,if technically fruit.

Does she like tomato based pasta sauces?

My DS eats no fruit or veg (except broccoli) - he has a multi-vitamin everyday and eats lots of meat/potatoes/rice/pasta/cheese.He is very gradually trying new things. I hasten to add DH and I eat a very wide variety of foods and have veg/salad/fruit as part of every meal.He was great as a baby but once go to 3ish started refusing things he had prev eaten. I don't worry about it. He will eventually widen his diet in his own time. Kids survive.
