Frozen chocolate-covered bananas

Dd and I just found that our local "health food store" is selling these as a summertime snack. If you've never tried a frozen banana you really should!

It was just a peeled banana with a stick in the end, dipped in dark chocolate. Dd had a plain one and mine was rolled in toasted coconut. Absolutely divine, and (perhaps fooling myself?) it seems a very healthy snack as opposed to an ice-cream etc.

Heaven on a stick, I tell you

Bananas are just wrong tho

BananaPudding · 28/05/2010 22:19

Usualsuspect, I don't like bananas much either. But frozen, they take on a luscious, creamy texture instead of the vile slimy mushy texture they usually have. Frozen bananas are a horse of a different color.

I love these. I grew up in America and you could get them some places there.

I'll never forget when I was about 11, my friend and I were at an amusement park and ate some chocolate-covered bananas rolled in nuts (even yummier than coconut). We then went on a spinning ride (the Rotor). We got off and she was sick everywhere. oh dear. So, if you eat them, don't go on any stomach-churning rides.

Silly question: How do you freeze it without the melted chocolate getting on everything? Fridge it on greaseproof paper and then freeze it once set?

Sounds good. I also have a distant childhood memory of the nut coated ones from the States ( lived there for a year when I was 10 ).

There's a recipe here - I MUST make some!

I think that the easiest way would be to peel the banana and insert a stick in it, then freeze. Melt your chocolate, dip the frozen banana and lay it on waxed paper (I think greaseproof is the same) and freeze on the paper.

Mmm. Going to have to have another today, and get dh to try it! I convinced him to try almond milk this morning and he liked it He's strictly dairy and hates soymilk so it was a massive victory
