I do a few family favourites like Spag Bol, fish pie, bangers and mash.

However, I am getting really bored with cooking at the moment and need some inspiration.

What does your family eat and enjoy?

hmm, well usual stuff really like cottage pie, stews, rice stir fries, tuna pasta bake etc

stuffed peppers are good, and the other week I did fish roasted with loads of veg and a can of chopped tomatoes (I'm quite lazy)

I do an awesome lentil stew but only at lunchtime as DH objects!

Things that 3 out of 4 of us like:-

Sausage pasta
Roast chicken pasta
Slimming World carbonara
Butternut squash pasta
Mauritian prawn curry
Keralan fish curry
Veggie curry
Fish burritos
Spanish fish
Fish in a bag
Thai chicken stir fry with noodles
Prawn, rose harissa and feta couscous

My kids are really little so they don't eat with us but you could despice some of those to make them more suitable for all the family.

Ooh yes to stuffed peppers - we have them with a fresh tomato sauce and roasted new potatoes.

Mattar paneer, dhal and rice.

Roasted cumin cauliflower and mattar paneer (when too lazy to cook rice).

I love cauliflower cheese and baked potatoes but the girls won't eat it.

They love noodles and stir fry.

Cauli cheese and mac and cheese both good too.

Just read all the suggestions so far and now I know why I'm struggling.

DD and me don't eat cheese. Nothing medical, we just not that keen on it.

Also, DS and DD are quite young and its a struggle to get DS (6) to eat curry. There is no way that DD will eat it.

More suggestions welcome though!

Can I come and live with you guys?

We would eat much better if DD (and DH for that matter) weren't so fussy. DD (nearly 3) refuses to eat most veg. She will eat cucumber, occasionally raw carrot and salad leaves but that is it. I tend to grate carrot and courgette into a lot of things but it has to be hidden really well (god, one of those things I smugly swore I'd never do pre-dc!).

DD likes curry, and we tend to run a spoonful of yoghurt through it, more for cooling down rather than spiciness, but she really likes it. Another favourite of ours is chicken and chorizo casserole, which is just chicken (usually left over roast or chicken pieces), chorizo in a spicy tomato sauce with a few dollops of creme fraiche. Great with rice, pasta or potatoes.

Dd1 (now 15) won't eat cheese if she can possibly get away with it, which is a pain. However, we took them both for their first curry experience at around two weeks old, to make sure that we got a taste for it into their systems without them noticing! They have always been happy to eat quite spiced food, which makes life much easier for me!

DastardlyandSmugly · 27/05/2010 15:52

A lot of my stuff doesn't have cheese.

SambuccaKelly · 27/05/2010 17:12

thinking of things that god iwn well with the kids...

Pasta of any sort goes down incredibly well.

Mediterannean pasta bake (make a basic tomato sauce, stir into pasta with lots of fresh basil and balls of mozarella, top with grated cheese and bake). I make a version with chicken, too.

Baked macaroni cheese.

Spaghetti carbonara.

spaghetti with meatballs.

Chinese chicken noodles.

Also:

Homemade hamburgers & homemade fat chips (def worth the effort to make your own - so much more tasty!).

Chicken in breadcrumbs.
Honey & soy marinated chicken drumsticks.
Chicken kebabs.
Chicken fajitas.

Tapas - my kids love to pick from little bowls.

Omelette/frittata/tortilla.

Baked potatoes with fillings.

Dastard, lots of your stuff doesn't have cheese and thanks for posting. Your family favourites sound fab, just wish I could get my DCs to eat spicy stuff too.

Are they ok with eating sauces? A lasagne might be good for them and I agree with frittata's and omelettes. If the DCs are fussy eaters, have you tried getting them involved with the food prep? As they can see what's going in it and are helping to cook it, they might be more likely to eat it.
