Is there actually any food you can't freeze?

Moving on from 'can I freeze a fruitcake?' I thought we could just cut to the chase.

Okay, I know strawberries go mushy and three times cooked prawns are not and good idea- but there actually any foodstuff that can't be safely or practically frozen?

My mum currently has in her deepfreeze a whole round of camembert and a dead owl waiting to be stuffed both of which seem to be faring rather well, considering....

Watery fruit and veg comes out soggy on defrosting eg cucumbers, lettuce, melon, whole tomatoes.

But is the veg is already made up into, say a pasta sauce, it won't make any difference.

I find that mashed potato freeze ok, but needs a really good stir when defrosted and reheated as it goes a bit 'wooly' otherwise,

Most other stuff freezes well so long as it is well wrapped, preferably with foil.
If it isn't well wrapped it starts to dry out and turn pale, but is till perfectly edible/safe to eat.

Finally,if you want to freeze cream it should be whipped first.

(You used to be able to buy freezer recipe books with list of what does and doesn't freeze, tips etc,and i've got an old one here, but I bet you could find one in a charity shop for about 50p)

Sleep dilemma - 8-month old baby

Hello.
My baby boy is 8-months and has generally been a good sleeper during the day and the night. I have been weaning him since 5.5 months and since then he has been sleeping through the night half the time and waking up once the other half (more so recently). Although he could be sleeping much worse than he is, I am finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the interruptions at night and find it really difficult to get back to sleep. The only way I can settle him in the night is to give him a breastfeed. He is really unhappy when he wakes. He eats TONS during the day and has 4 breastfeeds, and I don't really understand why he wakes up (usually at 11pm or so). My question is - should I sleep train him? Should I just wait? Any ideas as to why he is waking up? Should I give him a bottle of formula as his last feed at 7pm?
Any advice gratefully received! Thanks!

Hi RacQ, go to the Sleep thread HERE and start a new thread there - I would just copy and paste what you have said above. I am sure you will get help there

Nannyl- I was wondering why my Waitrose milk is always a bit odd...seems obvious now!

Thanks for the replies ladies. As I suspected, it's just a matter of taste!

I found a whole frozen banana at the bottom of my freezer this morning. Put it in last week when DD was teething and forgot about it. It is now defrosted and it looks deeply unappetising but I supopose it would be fine to cook with.

Mum only found out about the dead owl when she opened the deep freeze and found it staring up at her- my father hit it with the car and didn't want to see it go to waste!

ROFL at owl

Hummous is minging if frozen, which is a shame as the pots are always so darn huge, I struggle to use half of one before it needs chucking
