Lunchbox for a 4yo

First time I have to send him off for a whole day with school and he needs a packed lunch (that complies with healthy eating policy). I have packed:
Ham sandwich on brown bread
Pack of Organix crisps (will they be Ok?)
Banana
Yeo yogurt tube
Handful blueberries
A few dried apricots
Box raisins
Organix friut bar

Will that be enough? When at home he just seems to help himself to whatever when he's hungry... should really keep track

the only thing that may be a prob is the yoghurt tube, they have an unfortunate habit of exploding messily and teacher will hate you FOREVER

can you do a tiny pot of cubed cheese instead?

Also any tips on what I should do all day to stop me pacing the length of the hallway until I see them pull up?

You'll be too exhausted to worry about them after signing all the consent forms if yours is anything like my ds's school!!!

Would you normally give him 3 portions of dried fruit in a single day? You can only count 1 towards his 5 a day!

Sounds good otherwise though.

That seems masses to me. My 4yo just has a sandwich and a yoghurt.

I'd be tempted to swap some of the fruit for cheese or something else savoury too.

dd (6) has a 2 slice ham sandwich, some fruit, a frube/drinky yoghurt (I put a straw in for the drinky yoghurt and she just sticks it through the foil lid) and a biscuit type thing.

oh, is it not just a packed lunch if he is away all day - does it include snacks too? I give dd an extra fruit snack for break time too.

i agree it seems alot

my 4 year old charge (who is a good eater and eats largish portions for a 4 year old) gets
a sandwich... ham / cheese / chicken etc
a few sticks of cuecumber OR carrot OR a couple of cherry tomaotes
a piece of fruit
a petit filoux size yogurt (& spoon)

occasionaly as a treat a bit of banana loaf OR an organix bar OR a digestive biscuit

Looks okay, I bet most of the dried fruit bits will come home though due to time and being busy with mates etc!

My DD is 5 and has a 'main' (eg the protein and starch component), a portion or two of fruit, a yoghurt or mini cheese portion, and a drink. Maybe something like a homemade biscuit or flapjack if there's any. I often include a few crackers which she generally has after school rather than at lunch, but I prefer to give a teeny bit extra just in case.

It's only a small box of raisins, and literally 3 dried apricots. He would usually eat a fruit bar for morning snack and would have raisins in the afternoon. I do only count dried fruit as 1 of 5 a day. He still has fruit juice and veg at tea.
I did think it does seem alot, but they're doing alot of walking so want to make sure he has enough to keep him going! Thought about putting a homemade muffin in, but I'm not sure it would be allowed, they are very strict on their healthy eating rule! That's why I was worried about the crisps!

No I only meant that maybe he wouldn't get time to eat them all but if he will then why not indeed, especially as you can't even include a flipping homemade muffin these days i borderline hate this health policy thing trying to govern whether you can put a plethora or standard foods in their lunchbox. Don't see what's wrong with a kitkat after your sandwich!! Anyway tangent aside...
if you want to make sure he's getting the calories then dried fruit is cool. Also if you made seedy biscuits or flapjacks that would be acceptable at school I'm sure.
I always use full fat mayo ect for their pasta salads and sandwiches, so they are getting a boost of energy. Cheese is also good for that.

I find as my DC get older ( they are currently 3.9 and 6 ) I reduce the selection, mainly as they eat more if there is less to choose from.

Atm, they have sandwich, yoghurt drink, and fruit. I have a friend with 4 kids who makes a massive pasta salad the night before, divides it between them and they get a box of that, a fork and a satsuma. I like that a lot.

All that came back was half a pack of crisps and a few blueberries!
