If I cut our bread and sugar what can I eat!

I have a bad diet and I'm feeling rubbish. I'd like to try a couple of weeks without bread and refined sugar.

the trouble is I work long hours and I'm on my own with dd the rest of the time so I struggle to find time to cook properly and we have sandwiches a lot (other people feed dd so she is not eating badly, its just me)

Some days all my meals can be sandwiches. what can i replace them with if I'm going to cut out bread?

othewise than that it sounds remarkably like a low carb diet - may thats worth looking into?

Breakfast - Porridge

Lunch - Filling beany type soup

Dinner - Salad/veg, fish/chicken.

Snacks - Fruit, lean ham, Cottage cheese + Ryvita

Drink loads of water, also I find skinny cappucinno's/Latte's can be quite filling, although caffeine intake is probably not the best advise!

Oatcakes are a good one too for a snack

I avoid refined sugars and carbs but still have unrefined carbs which are better for you. For me it's unrealistic to drop carbs altogether. These have a low GI;
Sweet potato
Wholewheat/granary/rye bread
Brown pasta
Brown rice

Just don't have too much and don't have them with every meal.

Bananas, potatoes, couscous, rice, beans (made yourself or not in a sauce from a can -- the sauces contain sugar.) There are loads of different kinds of beans, and lentils too, and lots of recipes.

If you increase the amount of protein you eat for breakfast you might find yourself less hungry at mid-morning munchie time. Try to have some lean protein at lunch too.

You could switch to whole grain from white bread and benefit without getting rid of bread entirely. The darker the bread, the better it is for you.
