How many times shall I multiply my victoria sponge recipe to make dd's bday cake please?

The cake tin is a large roaster which is about 16in by 12 inch and quite deep. Dd's cake is a flat Peppa pig shape which I plan to cut out of the rectangle, only plan to make it one layer so it needs to be quite deep. Can't decide whether to go for 10 eggs or 12??

I normally, for a single cake use 3 eggs, 175g flour, butter, suger, and would keep the proportions of the ingredients the same, so if twice as much 6 eggs etc.

Remember if it's that deep you'll need some baking powder even with self raising flour, and to be careful checking it prematurely becuase it might collapse more easily.

Good luck!

ooh thanks for that tip. How much baking powder would you put in?

one level spoon for each lot of mixture, any more and it might start to taste bad

level teaspoon that is...

let me know how it turns out!

Oh and, you might need to do it for longer, and use foil so it doesn't burn the top, as it will be very deep, it will take longer to cook through and eliminate the gooey middle, however, exactly how long for I'm not sure, but I usually knock the temperature down a bit if im doing a deep one.

thanks so much fingers crossed it will go well. Made a huge choc one for ds' birthday last week (pirate ship) and it turned out fine but Peppa's icing will look odd with choc base
