Love the stuff and have made Lemon Meringue Pie with it...Grannys old receipe. Two eggs, saving whites for the meringue. Two lemons squeezed and zest from.
Plus tried Banoffee Pie but think i improvised and got it too runny.
Any other recipes with Condensed Milk gladly appreciated.

DH just telling me about truffles you can make. Heat up the milk in a pan gently until it thickens a bit (about 20 minutes) then add desiccated coconut, rum (or whatever alcohol, if you wish)... let it cool a bit until you can handle it, shape into balls. You can finish them off with shaved chocolate etc.

Nigella's pistachio chocolate fudge (sans nuts for me!). It's soooo easy and yummy scrummy. I made 2 batches last week!

Nothing - I wouldn't be happy using anything made by Nestles. If you can find an alternative make of condensed milk I might think about it.....

Chocolate crispie cakes

Use about 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa to colour the connie-onnie

Crush & add loads of cornflakes (until they aren't all covered in chocolate)

Then use a stainless steel eggcup to shape them

These are delicious - Truffles

10 digestive biscuits
5 tbsp drinking chocolate
5 tbsp shredded coconut
50g marg
small tin condensed milk
choc strands (to coat)

Crush biscuits in a bowl. Add the other dry ingredients.
Heat the condensed milk and marg in a pot, but don't let it boil!
Mix it altogether. Add more dry ingredients if needed.
Roll into balls and coat in the choc strands.
Chill in fridge.

SoMuchToBits - I found an alternative brand in Tesco at Christmas. Think it was made by Farmlea? Anyway, was very pleased as I used it to make Nigella's choc/pistachio fudge which was Very Yummy and ended up mostly in my mouth, rather than in the planned gift bags .

SoMuchToBits · 25/04/2010 21:38

Yum, MrsKitty!

with generic brand condensed milk...plenty of things, eg Millionaires shortbread.

with Nestle's, nothing.

My dad always called condensed milk conny onny and we used to have conny onny sandwiches!

TrinityIsAPenguin · 26/04/2010 20:56

cant you boil it in the can somehow and get toffee

Joolyjoolyjoo · 26/04/2010 20:59

I bet myself before clicking on this that there would be a reaction to Nestle!

thisisyesterday · 26/04/2010 21:00

Nestle continue to promote formula milk in third world countries, contributing to many, many infant deaths worldwide.
they refuse to stick to the international code of marketing of breastmilk substitutes

My mum used to melt chocolate and stir in condensed milk to make a sticky soft topping for chocolate cakes - much better than icing.
