Anyone cooked rack of lamb before? Panicking slightly...

I'm doing a dinner party for 8 people tonight and have decided to go with a 'spring' menu. The main course is rack of lamb with a sun-dried tomato and herb crust. I've never cooked this before though, and am panicking a bit as to how I'm supposed to break them up to serve them??? I've got 3 'chops' for each person and they're in racks of 6.

Any ideas??? Help!!!

Just cut them into individual cutlets with a sharp/carving knife and place on the plate (artfully). Drizzle jus. Sounds lovely.

Or cut your 6s down to 3s and arrange the 3s resting on the mashed potato or something?

You just slice in between each bone - so hold them 'standing up' with the bone pointing to the sky and slice down.

Thanks for all the replies...I knew I could count on Mumsnet!!!

Sounds like it should be quite easy to cut through the bones then. Am not too good at 'arty' arrangements, but will do my best . I haven't had a dinner party for about a year, so a bit nervous. My friends (no kids) pride themselves on their cooking, so hoping to impress. If not, I'm just going to get pissed .

You won't need to cut through any bones, just in between the bones. Have a look at the racks and you'll see theyre just chops joined together.

And son't worry about 'arty' - 'rustic' is where it's at!

And keep the wine flowing sounds like fun!
