Least vomit-inducing things to offer sickie 6 year old?

I have to get some food into her. Any ideas? Eggs are a no no and she has decided that she is vegetarian (as am I). Everything I offer her at the moment is either sickie or horrible or poo. Ideas? Please...

Tomato soup?

GrimmaTheNome · 22/04/2010 16:22

Lots of liquid. If she's not hungry, you really don't need to get food into her. If she is: Breadsticks. Dry toast. Plain biscuits.

So a diet of 2 small bowls of reddy brek a day isn't so bad then?

Tomato soup sounds good. Will try that with bread sticks. If that's rejected then back to the reddy brek.

I am so bad at being the caring nurturing sort when the kids are poorly. See useless, see me.

Pringles and pepsi max work for me when I'm feeling rough.

Or basically whatever she fancies. If it's just because she's feeling poorly it won't be forever and you can get back to 5-a-day mung beans and alfafa sprouts when she's better

Lots of fluids, if she can keep them down, and just plain stuff like toast?

NOT milky stuff, when recovering from sicky bug- as I learnt many years ago at great cost to the carpet and my gag reflex.

DS2 once had really violent sick bug - couldn't even keep plain water down - and GP advised plain crisps and orange ice lollies! It worked though.

CMOTdibbler · 22/04/2010 17:05

Chocolate pudding. Tastes the same going down and up, tasty, and soothing to the stomach.

slim22 · 22/04/2010 17:17

toast & bananas
clear broth with noodles

MrFibble · 22/04/2010 17:44

Ah. I have just learnt that when your 6 yo has a tummy bug one should remove the box of spare bed clothes from under her bed... Shit. Poo. Damn.

Don't feed the poor child if she is still being sick. Water or ice lollies or flat lemonade only until tomorrow at the earliest.

MrFibble · 22/04/2010 17:54

She isn't being sick still. I just went to make her bed up, wondered why the room still smelt of vomit and opened up the spare bedclothes box to find that it had leaked in during the vomiting session last night. Oh joy.

Oh dear, poor you - that sounds really gross.
Hope your DD is feeling better soon - she'll probably start demanding salty foods so hope you've got that soup and crisps ready.

Whoamireally · 22/04/2010 19:57

How grim - having just got over a sicky bug which has taken almost a week before I actually feel right again, I sympathise

Hope she has managed to eat a little more today. I generally make ready brek but with my soya milk instead of dairy as it's a bit more digestible - with golden syrup on as a treat.
