Yogurt or fromage frais - why can't he keep it down?

My baby is nearly 9 months old and I fed him a baby pot of fromage frais for tea today and, just like every other time I have tried, he vomited some of it up - not immediately but a short time later. He eats them with relish but there must be something that upsets his tummy - any ideas what might be the cause of this problem?

He has cows milk on his cereals, breast feeds a little and has formula milk aswell.

Can't help with what the cause is except to say that DS was the same. On one occasion he projectile vomited from back of car to dashboard - very pleasant. Stopped giving them to him and re-introduced later (sorry can't remember when) and now 3.5 eats them daily, no probs. Would be interested too if anybody does know why.

Sounds like he may not tolerate dairy all that well... I would keep clear for a few weeks/months and try again later. If he has some intolerance you are lucky he is throwing it up versus having other symptoms which might not show you (quickly) he does not tolerate dairy.

Ditto Soly and Sibble. I reintroduced yogurt about 2-3 months after I realised that it made ds puke, only ever giving him a spoonful or two at a time, gradually building up over a year or so until he can now eat the stuff until it comes out of his ears!

Pupuce, a lot of people I know who can't drink milk have no problems with yogurt. I thought that was because the fermentation involved in making yogurt partially breaks down the lactose.

We have the same problem with my 8 month old - she loves yogurt and would eat tons, but is often sick afterwards. The health visitor said it was just a way of telling me that she was full! She (dd2, not the hv!) never refuses food and just goes on and on eating, so I have to judge when she's had the right amount. She has a bottle before breakfast and one at night and its those meals that she is often sick at, so now I only give her yogurt at lunchtime (when she has water) and that seems to have stopped the problem.

I found the same with my son with the ff so I just avoided giving it to him and now he is 2 I still don't can't face to see him sick. Seemingly alot of children are intolerant of fromage frais due to the chesse. Good Luck
