Those that rave about Fay Ripley I've had two disasters so far what to try next?

Got the Fay Ripley book in the vain hope that I can cook some recipes that all the family would eat - not just spag bol or lasagne. Lots of recommendations for the book on here usually a good bet.

So far tried the pork and mushroom cream recipe (DH hated it too creamy and too much vinegar - I for once agree with him not a balanced sauce). Today tried chicken with orange and ginger - both kids hated it (3 and 1 and DS would normally eat anything). I think its okay but the cumin I think is the problem with the kids.

What shall I try next or else I'll send the book off to the charity shop?

I've always liked what I've made from that book. Can't rmember what I cooked now though...

Oooh I've made tons of things - there is a chicken dish with rice which is really good, have also made the baked haddock (my two love it) - also very fond of the blueberry pancakes and the pavlova is fabulous!

The only thing we haven't liked so far was the butternut squash soup.

The Tuscan sausage stew is yummy.

I've so far made the meatballs (great), the bung in the oven spag bol (tasted lovely), the chicken, broadbean and rice dish (enjoyed that, dh didn't like the lemon - he doesn't "understand" lemon with meat), the chicken and ham pie (the sauce for this is really nice, pie worked, happy) and the butternut squash soup (didn't like. far too sweet for my liking), tuscan sausage stew (really tasty, nice to find another thing to do with sausages).

I love this book so far. Each recipe has worked, they're tasty (except the butternut squash one!), easy to prepare, easy to get hold of the ingredients. I was in a real rut cooking wise, cooking the same old dishes. Have felt really inspired using this book and look forward to trying more recipes. Am making the haddock in creme fraice and cream dish tomorrow and hoping to do the chicken with orange and ginger later in the week (will take note of the cumin warning and perhaps adjust). Great book Fay!

Really enjoyed the baked spaghetti carbonara. Am pregnant so been avoiding normal spag carbonara incase egg not cooked enough and it is just gorgeous!!

Second the tuscan sausage casserole.

Also the butternut squash soup is so simple and delicious.
