Souvlaki for 50-60

We are having about 50-60 people to an afternoon/evening party, children and adults.

I am keen to have fun myself so don't want to spend hours catering the event.I am happy to make a few puddings ahead of time, and am sorted on that front. I had an idea of possibly slow roasting an enormous piece of lamb - or maybe a few enormous pieces? - and doing souvlaki pockets for everyone with a yoghurty sauce, salad and pittas to stuff it in.

Would this work for such large numbers? If so, anyone any ideas what cut of lamb would work? How big or how many joints? Would a slow roast work for souvlaki?

I have a fairly standard multifunction double oven, smaller top larger bottom.

i think that sounds lovely
i would imagine that leg would be the best choice here really
can't advise on numbers of joints/legs but would it be worth having a look at pig roast type companies online as they often specify what weight of meat for various party sizes

thanks aseriously - I think you're right about leg. I've had a look online but all the souvlaki recipes and references are for cubed skewered and grilled or barbequed lamb. No way I'm doing that - I'll be cooking for the duration of the party.

I guess my effort may be like a souvlaki/doner cross?

Good idea re the hog roast sites for size approximations, ta.
