organix corn and maize snacks

Hi everyone, I have to ask this question online because I don't want to offend anybody I know in real life.

What is the deal with these snacks and why does everybody I know feed them to their babies?

Ok, so they say on the packet 'junk 0%', but I can't get over the fact that you are teachiong your baby that a snack comes out of a foil bag, looks like a cheesy wotsit and tastes like a cheesy wotsit. When they are bigger how could you blame a little one for wanting a bag of cheesy wotsits when they are hungry for a snack if they have been fed these organix snacks as babies?

I am middle class, my friends are educated women, mostly over 30, and want the best for their babies, why am I the only one that thinks these snacks are a bit wrong?

I just want to add that by no means is my diet perfect, and I am trying to eat better eg. more fruit, so I am a better model for my 8 and a half month old son.

Opinions and debate please!

Fine as part of a balanced diet, IMHO. Nothing wrong with wotsits as part of a balanced diet either.

They have palm oil in. Yes I know pretty much everything else does too, it just bugs me that they're all holier than thou and then put that in their food.

also never seen the point of them, when they seem to be aimed at babies at a stage when they'll also just eat a bit of bread, or a bit of ricecake, or whatever.... (no pester power yet!)

but I guess it's food, it's portable, it's available, babies enjoy them...

I'm just too mean to splash out that much money on something!!!

It lists sunflower oil on the pack, not palm oil. I give these to my baby because he finds them easier to eat than most things, don't see what the problem is really. The way I see it I'm starting as I mean to go on- he gets a range of healthy home cooked meals and healthy finger foods (fruit and veg sticks, home made bread, rice cakes etc). The odd bit of lazy food out of a packet is fine as long as there's no horrible additives.

I think they must have changed it recently then. Hooray! off to Boots

Not that much difference to a rice cake - except they don't taste of cardboard. Are the middle classes feeding their babies cardboard tasting fake foods a good idea...

Do you have only one child? Do you have a child that refuses nearly all solids?

Biggest problem they turn everything orange

What are whotsits??????
Anything that has a shelf life of year plus is processed food, hence junk.
Why would anybody eat such vile stuff as crisps is beyond me, seriously. There is a plethora of fab food out there, why fill ones precious stomach-space with horrid garbage?
