Can I make it today and cook it tomorrow? (lots to do tomorrow and trying to get as much as I cna prepared today)
Or is it all going to go horribly wrong? (Are the apple going to look all manky?)

It will work if you stew the apple today, make the topping and put it on then refrigerate and cook tomorrow.

I think! - have never done it like that. Apple crumble is so quick to make - I never usually cook the apple first.

Thanks, I don't usually stew the apples but I could try that.
I wonder if it would be fine if I put lemon on the apples. (we put lemon on potato to keep them from going brown and it really works a treat.)

I found a recipe that says cook it today serve it tomorrow but I'm really not convinced.

I think I might have to bite the bullet and add that to my list tomorrow, I want it to be really nice and fresh.

Anyone else done the prep the day before?

You can prep the crumble the day before and keep it in a bag in the fridge, or freezer.

agree with meltedmarsbar about stewing the apples if you're planning to make in advance as they'll go discoloured otherwise
as zachary says crumble topping keeps well in the freezer too

I am another one for making double volume of crumble mix and then freezing half of it.

I will quite often cook crumble the day before and then reheat the next day. Particularly if you put cloves / cinnamon / allspice in with your apples, it really helps infuse the flavour.
