For 1-25-1.5kg - LOW 4-10 hours

  • HIGH 3.6 hours

Why do you want to slow cook it, what is the cut, be careful slow cooking will shrink the joint considerably so a 900g piece could be tiny. If you cooked it slow for 10hrs I dread to think what it would turn out like.

If your slow cooking say a silverside joint then you want to incoporate moisture into the dish.

You'd be better sticking it in the oven on a timer. Wrapped in foil with a small drop of wine, sticks of celery, bay leaf and wholegrain mustard for about 3hrs.

Brisket is wonderful for slow cooking - I do think you run the risk of ruining a 'good' cut of beef. I have often cooked brisket this way and served it up like a much more expensive joint of beef an no-one has noticed

I always think that some people eat beef practically raw and therefore it is better not to overcook.

Usually I put it in about 12 on 'auto' and it's ready for 6pm ish, regardless of the size.

All depends on the cut, as said above, brisket is good for slow cookers, silverside and topside are nice in oven (or as potroasts), brown them first and then pop in the oven with a bit of wine etc. as bacon suggested and cover with foil. Don't overcook, it'll be horrid and tough.
Even if you don't like medium roast, letting it rest properly 'pulls' the juices back in and you'll have a juicy joint..
However, if talking about the rib of beef, then it only needs salt, pepper and leeetle bit oven. YUMMMM.
