baby led weaning

My DD is 7 months old and after a month of enjoying all sorts of pureed food has now decided she doesn't want feeding from a spoon any more. she pushes it away and keeps her mouth firmly closed. i've heard of baby led weaning so i've been giving her finger food (toast, cucumber, melon, pear, rice cakes etc..) and she likes putting these in her mouth and sucking them, but doesn't have teeth yet so can't acutally manage to eat much of it. she's basically only having milk at the moment. has anyone else had similar experiences?

yep - perfectly normal as far as I can work out. Mine took a good 2-3 months before they were eating much. Def get her on to proper meals like bolognaise or pasta bake, or whatever actually - chicken drumsticks (meat taken off the bone) or anything you're having. It's actually easier for them to eat that than cucumber sticks I think.

Enjoy!!!

DS2 was like this. I had a freezer full of puree he wouldn't eat, but then found that he would feed it to himself smeared on toast or a breadstick! That kept him going until he got the hang of chewing 'proper' food.

dd liked hummous and bread at that age and home made soups with bread dipped in. we used to let the bread soak up the soup and then she'd feed herself.

v messy though!
