I hereby declare that macaroni cheese is even nicer when reheated <gavel>. What other foods are nicer than their fresh counterparts?

curry
stew

BecauseImWoeufIt · 31/03/2010 12:54

Lasagne always nicer the day after it's first made.

Stews/casseroles also improve.

chopstheduck · 31/03/2010 12:55

most curries and chinese dishes. I liek to cook them in the morning, then reheat for dinner. The flavours are all nicely mingled and taste much better!

SinninHinny · 31/03/2010 12:55

Curry. Cottage pie. Casserole. It would appear that many dishes beginning with 'c' taste grand reheated.

Beef mince in onion gravy

coldtits · 31/03/2010 12:56

roast potatoes (reheated in OVEN not microwave)

FalafelAtYourFeet · 31/03/2010 12:57

oh now coldtits, you are disproving the 'c' rule.

Chinese food

One pot dishes - curries, casseroles, stews

Most things made with lentils / beans

Christmas pudding

Apple crumble

FalafelAtYourFeet · 31/03/2010 12:59

oh yes apple crumble definitely

and what about trifle? My mother gets very cross because dsis and i when going roubnd for Christmas always decline trifle when offered but then scarf it for breakfast the next day. There are few things more satisfying than a sherry trifle for breakfast after a lie in at parents' house.

Christmas turkey - pulled off the bird (pref. leg) in lumps and dunked directly into mayonnaise.

BeastofBodmin · 31/03/2010 13:01

Lasagne - I love the slightly burnt crispy edge bits

LimburgseVlaai · 31/03/2010 13:06

Barbecued food always seems better eaten cold the next day.

GreenGardenia · 31/03/2010 13:07

Sausages

HellBent · 31/03/2010 13:10

Agree with trifle, also fish pie (specifically mine!) is lovely the next day if there is any left

I love cold salad potatoes and cold sausages from a barbecue as well

taffetacat · 31/03/2010 13:41

Fish pie - def
Beef in red wine
Curry
Thai pumpkin laksa
Trifle, and most puddings with alcohol in
Nut based cakes eg almond cake
Ginger cake/gingerbread
Fruit cake/tea loaf

Different not better:Cold homemade quiche

Bad,bad, bad the next day: pizza and pasta

notasize10yetbutoneday · 31/03/2010 15:39

As an exception to the 'c' rule, couscous is not pleasant when heated the next day. Has a floury taste and feel to it, IMO.

FalafelAtYourFeet · 31/03/2010 16:43

Anything that takes a long time to cook like casseroles and slow cooker stuff seems to be good reheated. Agree that pasta not good reheated on the whole but is often nice cold.

Baked cheesecake better after a few days in the fridge.

FalafelAtYourFeet · 31/03/2010 16:54

debka · 31/03/2010 18:26

carrot cake

FalafelAtYourFeet · 31/03/2010 19:41

debka? really?

meltedmarsbars · 01/04/2010 17:51

I second the carrot cake.

Rhubarb crumble,
gooseberry crumble.

Stews and soups, but dumplings do not reheat well imo.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 01/04/2010 17:55

Potato salad always better the day after you make it.

Cold sausages.

Cauliflower cheese.
