Hi DD - 3.8 has had diaorreah (sp) for 2 days and the doctor has said she is not to have any milk for for 2 days.

she usually has porridge / shreddies / yoghurt / pancakes for breakfast. any milk free suggestions?

i'm thinking of fruit and toast but wondered if anyone had anymore exciting ideas?

Thanks

bagels - ds2 loves the cinnamon and raisin ones

I used to make porridge with water, or even some apple juice for my dd.

You could still make pancakes but use soya milk instead.

Toast is a good one (get the PURE dairy-free spread in Tesco)- with an egg if that is ok.

beans on toast - you can do without butter.

I hate cold milk so have cereals/muesli with either fruit juice or yoghurt/soya yog. NB fruit juice does not work on sugary cereals.
Otherwise scrambled eggs on toast - maybe with some smoked salmon to add extra nourishment?

Rice milk soya milk absolutely fine - very digestible. When dd2 (9 months) had a nasty tummy bug doc said to restart her on soya formula first.

English wholemeal muffins are a fave here lightly spread with whatever - we like a thin scraping of Marmite

googietheegg · 31/03/2010 19:07

just use yoghurt with any cereal - it's lovely straight onto oats (porridge oats) with a little fruit puree

googietheegg · 31/03/2010 19:08

or how about making some flapjacks? you can find loads of recipes with fruit puree instead of butter/oil so they're healthy and dairy free

MamaGlee · 31/03/2010 19:08

dippy egg

BrokenBananaTantrum · 31/03/2010 20:36

thanks everyone. with all these lovley ideas i think cereal and milk will be taking a back seat from now on!
