Chocolate fudge brownie tragedy. Oh I am so sad.

I have had a manic day. Realised that I needed to bake something for tomorrow and that I wouldn't get a chance later.

Grabbed 10 minutes while ds was sleeping in the car. Fudge brownies.

Threw everything into a bowl. Chucked in the eggs without bothering to beat them first. Racing in and out to check ds hadn't woken up. Grabbed a spoon to mix it all up and throw it in the oven.

As my spoon hit the eggs, just a fraction of a second too late, I saw a streak of red blood in the yolk.

Bleurrrgh bleh bleh yeeeeeewq eugh yuk yeugh yack bleurghhhhhh.

Yarrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhh.

So now I have a pretty cupcake bunting tin of the most delicious looking damp, dark brownies. And I can't even taste them because THERE MIGHT BE CHICKEN EGG BLOOD IN THE BIT I EAT.

Eugh.

There's blood in all meats though, you cook them and eat them anyway , why's an egg different??

fruitshootsandheaves · 23/03/2010 16:55

at least it wasn't little feathers

stealthsquiggle · 23/03/2010 16:55

stealthsquiggle · 23/03/2010 17:03

MaMight - do you eat chicken?

MaMight · 23/03/2010 17:07

No, am veggie. I do eat eggs though, but am a bit iffy about them.

OK - now I understand. Split your contaminated brownies in half and send half to Riven and half to me (actually, Riven's need is greater than mine and I have LDC - send them all to her!)

Pumphreydidit · 23/03/2010 17:11

It sometimes happens especially when the egg is fresh -this explains why

YouMightKnowMe · 23/03/2010 17:13

I oftn see blood spots on the surface of the yolk. I never knew that there was a problem with it.

taffetacat · 23/03/2010 20:00

Pumphrey - that link re blood spots is so sad. The lesser known "meat spots" - it says as they look unappetising to cull the hen.
