I was just responding to another thread about children's parties and suggested this as a fondue recipe that children will adore!
Would like to post a photo of the one I made a while back (it's on FB), but don't think you can. So anyway, here's the recipe:
As I type, the remains of this are still on the table - having been devoured by 3 young girls while watching Mamma Mia on DVD! This is unbelievably easy and incredibly tasty - something for children AND FOR GROWN UPS. Mamma Mia optional....
Ingredients:
- 150g soft brown sugar (Fairtrade of course!)
- 25g butter (that'll be organic)
- 150ml single cream (fattening and full of calories and cholesterol but delicious)
- finely grated ride of one medium orange
- juice of same orange - or two tablespoons from the fridge
- 100g white chocolate (Green and Blacks works well we found :-))
To serve:
Fruit and marshmallows. We used cherries, melon, banana and strawberries (and marshmallows of course). You could also use segmented mandarins or pears.
Method:
Add sugar, butter, cream, orange rind and juice to a small saucepan and heat until the butter is melted and sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil and boil, uncovered for 3 minutes. Turn off heat and leave for 5 mins (while you chop the chocolate or fruit).
Stir in the chocolate until the fondue mixture is smooth. Stand for 5 mins (finish chopping fruit and do the washing up).
Arrange fruit and marshmallows on a serving platter. Transfer cooling fondue mixture to a serving dish. Use skewers for dipping.
Enjoy!
PS Photo link - but not sure if this will work:
