I randomly bought Tana Ramsays Homemade, and actually like it - in that they are easy to cook with most things I have in the cupboards, so what other books are there like this. I have loads of Nigella a few of the early Jamie Oliver ones and then loads of very region or cuisine specific ones. What I am looking for are cookery books to get dinner on the table and give me new ideas?
Any recommendations welcome.

I like the Faye Ripley one

all the AVOCA books are wonderful

Rachel Allen books are good too

Do you have any Nigel Slater books? The Real Fast Food one is possibly the one I pick up and browse to get inspiration for what to make with what I have IYSWIM most often. His food is realistic but can stretch you to go a little further or try something a little different.
And he's great with flavour combinations.

I have Rachel Allen Bake - didn't know she did other ones . Never heard of AVOCA who or what is that? Going to have a look at Fay Ripley.
I have one Nigel Slater with a green and blue stripey cover but it's not one of my favourties although everything I have cooked from it was good. Maybe I should get him out again...hmm
Thanks btw for the ideas

I think its called Food For Living or something

Avoca is a southern irish thing but am pretty sure you can get them on amazon - brilliant shops and LOVELY foods

I have to admit I used to buy Good Food magazine and Delicious for seasonal inspiration but after a few years of the same things I now just get recipes from the websites

Sainsbo's magazine - brilliant recipes, make at least one new one a month

Use all these all the time:

Sarah Raven's Garden Cookbook
Nigel Slater - Kitchen Diaries/Appetite
Just Like Mother Used to Make - Tom Norrington Davies

I also have been buying good food and delicious but I am not living in the UK at the moment and it was costing the same as an actual recipe book, so I thought I would buy books instead.
Sadly can't get sainsbo's mag here. Will have another look at Nigel Slater. But thanks for the suggestions.

Sainsburys are similar and post recipes on their website too - I can't imagine that they wouldn't put the ones off their magazine once the new edition comes out

I have loads of cookery books (dh depairs) but I always go back to Mary Berry.

All her recipes are achievable and realistic to my mind. Some cookery books are lovely to flick through, but I'd not make the recipes in them in a million years.

Her recipes are not over complicated and usually appeal to my family.

Bendy I agree however I'm also embarrassed to admit I like a photo of what I'm trying to cook and some of hers don't - mainly the baking ones though
