What did you feed your children today?

Would LOVE some inspiration for feeding my almost 4 year old dd.

In a parallel universe, I would be there in a nice Cath Kidston pinny, with my Rachel Allen or Fay's Family Food book, planning nutritious yet healthy meals which despite their credentials are still cheap and quick.

However, the reality of it is, with a pukey and pooey 9 month old to contend with, that this week seems to have been alternating Ikea meatballs and chips and peas, with fish fingers chips and, er, peas, and I think there was one night where I did spag bol but only because I must have had an organised week where I'd made bol sauce, portioned it up and frozen it

So, what did your children have for tea today?

I've got loads of stuff on my organic box blog. I've got a 13mo and a nearly 3 year old who I cook for everyday. Most of the recipes are very quick and easy without loads of weird ingredients. Look under the weaning/toddler category.

I write about how I use my organic box and most of the recipes are very weaning/toddler friendly. The 13mo wasn't pandered to at all (who has time when it's the second one?) and he eats absolutely everything.

I think it is easy to worry about what they should/shouldn't be eating, but actually, when they get older you want them to eat the food you eat, so the earlier you can start them on that, the better. If that means you have to eat more fruit/veg/less salt/ less sugar, then you will all benefit!

good luck!

We went out to the local nice Italian and had pizza.

Fresh pesto is the BEST - esp M&S pesto. ASDA fresh pesto is not bad but all are a bit pricey. I don't rate the Sacla stuff.

In Summer, I make my own - obviously not many herbs growing atm so can't do this.

Many people don't know that you can use loads of different combos of herbs and nuts to make pesto - it is not just about basil and pine nuts. I would not deviate re oils and cheese though

battered sausage and chips

if you do pesto I'd take the middle course- buy the one in the fridge section. It's not half as salty as the jar one, and you don't have the fag of making it yourself only to see it get chucked on the floor. Stick some brocolli in it and maybe some pine nuts. nom nom nom
