Any ideas for making cup cakes for a child who dosn't have a sweet tooth ??

Hi, my 5 year old daughter loves making cup cakes, she loves the look of them when finnished but dosn't like to eat them.
She dosn't have a sweet tooth. She does like banannas and honey, so I wondered if I could somehow make healthy cup cakes sweetened with bananas and honey? I'm not a very good cook, so I'd really appreciate a recipie.
Or if you have any other ideas as to how to sweeten them, that would be great.
It seems a shame for her not to enjoy eating what she's made.

I would try a basic sponge mix but with only half of the sugar and a couple of mashed bananas. You could probably reduce the sugar even more and pop some apple puree in too.

Carrot cake? It's not overly sweet and quite healthy too.

I sympathise with your dd. I too do not have a sweet tooth, especially for muffins/buns etc.

my dd and I regularly cook muffins on sunday mornings, this recipe is my favourite so far here

lots of ingredients, but incredibly tasty and full of good stuff

Thanks everyone. The breakfast muffins look lovely.

what about savoury muffins:

ham and mushroom
carrot and courgette
spinach and cheese

can post recipe details if you're interested.

Muffins are great for making with kids and they are really easy if you're not a confident cook.

Thank you, she is a bit of a fussy eater and won't eat mushroom, corgette or spinach though. She's willing to try anything once, but if she dosn't like it, then she won't eat any more. It's very frustrating when I've cooked a healthy meal with her in mind.
She loves cheese and carrot and onion if it's very finely chopped.

cheese muffins? try a half quantity and make mini ones?

taffetacat · 07/03/2010 21:17

or mini cheesecakes? they aren't very sweet....

Have you tried scones? Even the sweet ones aren't as sweet as fairy cakes and you can cut them out using biscuit cutters, so you can make all sorts of fun shapes. Loads of recipes on the internet.

Cheese scones?
