Have bacon, mushrooms - what can I do with puff pastry?

I bought puff-pastry to make a bacon & mushroom quiche with but have just read that I shuold've bought shortcrust instead, because puff pastry will go soggy. I don't have the ingredients to make my own shortcrust so is there anything I CAN use the puff pastry for, with the bacon & mush? I have egg & cream for some sort of filling but how can I do this without soggy pastry? Am thinking of some kind of tart but not sure what the difference is between tart and quiche!

Oh and if anyone can answer this in the next half hour that would be beyond fabulous

Chop bacon and mushroom up, makes squares of the puff pastry, put a bit of the bacon and mushroom mixture into the middle, top with cheese if you have any and bake in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes.

You can gently fry the bacon and mushroom beforehand and drain some of the fat so that the pasty does not go mushy.

I would make a bacon and mushroom dryish filling and then use it to make pasties..I think that a large tart made from puff pastry will push the filling out as the base expands but I may be wrong.

Use the puff pastry as a pie top for your bacon and mushroom sauce mixture

Ooh, cheese, that's a gpod idea - I was thinking the bacon & mush would be too dry without anything else but cheese will moisten it up. Thanks! I like the other ideas too - thanks ladies!

Do puff pastry tarts reheat nicely, does anyone know?

Fry onions till soft add bacon and brown add mush. Then stir through creme fraiche and some thyme and seasoning. Put over half of puff and fold in half, pinching the edges.

Cover with eggwash and bake in medium-hot oven til brown.

Make a pudding with the eggs and cream.

Something I used to do years ago was to make a bacon & egg pie.
Line the bottom of a shallow pie dish/plate with pastry, lay a few rashers of lightly fried bacon across then break a few eggs in whole (not beaten) aiming for the yolks to be evenly spaced. I used to just add a bit of chopped parsley, but mushrooms would make a nice addition (possibly still with some parsley - dried or fresh).
Then apply the top layer of pastry, cut a slit in the top then give it 20 to 30 minutes in a moderately hot oven.
Dead easy, and very tasty.
