frozen fish - will this still be ok to eat?

Two breaded haddocks in the freezer. Were fresh then we froze them on the day we bought them. Pack says if frozen use within one month - it's been month and a half. Will they still be ok to eat or should we chuck?

Ok to eat

They are fine. Frozen fish don't tend to have calenders.

What do people imagine is going to happen to frozen food that renders it inedible after an arbitrary point?

overmydeadbody · 25/02/2010 19:05

God yes they will be fine, the 'use within one month' is just a guideline, and just a guideline as to the actual texture of the food if frozen for longer, not the safety aspect.

It would still be fine six months later really.

Sure they will be fine after a month and a half. I always use fresh food within dates but can't understand why most fresh foods state use within one month if frozen when guides on freezer is completely different.

best before dates on frozen food are just a joke, even within the FSA they are considered to be a bit of a joke. A legal requirement within labelling laws.

thanks all
