I'm work next week and want to think of fun things to do together.

We already make fairy cakes together but I want to try different things and would appreciate ideas and advice.

I was thinking of pizza but not sure what to use for the bases as we haven't got a breadmaker. Rice krsipies cakes are the only definite thing on the list

Would really love fun suggestions!

I cooked some biscuits with DS today from the I Can Cook website and they were disastrous.

They use small amounts so you don't end up with mountains of food but I think that makes the quantities much easier to cock up, especially with a 3 year old in charge of the spoon.

20g sugar probably doubled and they turned into brandy snaps (without the brandy obviously)

I'm sticking to Nigella next time!

My 2 yr old dd loves 'rolling' (read bashing and poking and throwing) dough so we make lots of cookies and jam tarts, which we then have to get rid of somehow. One spoon of jam for the tart then one for her mouth, then another one for her mouth etc etc. (btw how can Asda have whole aisles dedicated to crisps or yoghurts and sell only 3 different kinds of -rubbish- jam??) Agree re the icing - great fun.

We made pizzas once using readymade base, had great fun spreading puree chopping mushrooms ripping up ham and making a face. In the oven... "mmmm smells delicious" says she. Cooked and cooled, here's your tea my love. "No fankyou mummy". Bloomin fussy child. Going to get cool knife thanks Thepinkone

Why not make some bread rolls? There are plenty of quick bread recipes about, and it's perfectly possible to make bread without a bread maker! My DS's love kneading the dough, as they can get really stuck in! They also love the "magic" when the dough rises! You can make the rolls into different shapes, eg hedgehogs with currant eyes. And you can freeze the baked rolls if you've over-catered!

We love these:

Basically because it is SUCH a simple and very VERY forgiving recipe. Dd can "do it myself" as much as she pleases and they are still always very edible at the end!!! So much so we often make batches to take to the park and share with friends...

This blog is good. There's sweet and savoury recipes and it shows that with the right preparation little ones can enjoy cooking allsorts.
