Do you like cooking?

Do you enjoy cooking or is it a chore

Do you try cooking different foods or stick to the smae foods as it is easy and you know it will turn out ok?

I don't particularly enjoy it, no. S'pose it is a bit of a chore. But I love eating so make myself do it

I generally stick to the same stuff (DP is much more inventive and, well, better)

But I do cook from scratch, though

Hulababy · 22/02/2010 14:30

I enjoy cooking on the whole. I particularly enjoy cooking big meals for visiting family and friends.

When I have lots of time I find it a real pleasure.

Day to day I do cook, but when oushed for time, it is less enjoyable.

I do a mix of tried and tested meals, and new ones.

am happy to cook from scratch, but also happy to cheat at times too. I am nit a food snob either.

DH never cooks, bar beans on toast, eggs, etc. I do the cooking, he does the cleaning up after - works well.

I love cooking, but with only myself and 2 small children to feed I have lost my motivation

Hullygully · 22/02/2010 17:23

No

bibbitybobbityhat · 22/02/2010 17:23

Hate it 90% of the time. It is a complete and utter chore.

DecorHate · 22/02/2010 17:24

I like cooking but I hate having to think about what to cook every night. If someone put a recipe & ingredients in front of me I would be fine. Doesn't help that the ds's are fussy eaters.

I do like trying our new recipes and adding to my repertoire, though there are still no more than half a dozen things that every single person in the family likes

BendyBob · 22/02/2010 17:26

I like cooking but I hate it that family cooking is so relentless.

I'd be happy to cook, say, about twice a week. I'd enjoy that.

But every day...?! Nah don't enjoy having to do it every day. But I do and usually from scratch.

trice · 22/02/2010 17:31

I like cooking about once a week. The rest of the time it is a chore.

alarkaspree · 22/02/2010 17:36

I used to, before I had children. Now I have to a) do too much of it and b) cook the same things over and over and over again, or c) have them rejected by one or both dc.

So it is a chore.

Bleatblurt · 22/02/2010 17:46

I like cooking most of the time. I go through phases where I get sick of it and wish I could just feed them pizza everyday.

I do like trying new recipes and try to do something new a couple of times a week. I was the worst eater growing up so I want to introduce my DC's to a much wider variety of meals than I had.

TrillianAstra · 22/02/2010 17:51

Mostly. I like eating nice things and I like the sense of achievement of having made something nice.

That said, if DP isn't there I often don't bother so much, I want someone to appreciate my nice things

aseriouslyblondemoment · 22/02/2010 18:03

i absolutely love cooking and practically always cook from scratch
my kitchen is a bit of a sanctuary for me tbh
but i also love being cooked for which to me is a huge treat

Katz · 22/02/2010 18:29

ivykate - the latest cook yourself thin book - last one was really good, yummy recipes

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/02/2010 18:31

I love cooking. Am a compulsive cook and must try recipes. There must be a label for this condition.

I love it. I love experimenting, sticking together what we have.

I even have a little plain notebook (with a pretty flower on the front) in which I write down my homemade recipies to use again!

I would hate to be a chef but I do like cooking for friends/family adn coming up with new stuff. People seem to genuinely like it.

However, if it is a dessert/pudding or baking (apart form bread) - count me out, I'm crap!

taffetacat · 22/02/2010 20:26

I find the daily stuff during the week a bit boring, tbh, but on the whole just love cooking.

My favourite is baking - closest I can get to alchemy. Nothing I bake looks professional but it tastes yum and looks ,erm, homemade.

I also love cooking for groups - friends/family - I use it as an opportunity to try new recipes as I get bored of the humdrum regular stuff.
