Cheesecake dilema...

I have just made a lemon cheesecake, with cream dated 2 days ago. It smelt and tasted fine but does this mean I have to eat the whole cheescake tonight rather than taking it to my friends on Friday? Or will the lemon 'preserve' it. I'm completely clueless, no idea how I even managed to make a cheesecake!

lol. unless it's a baked cheesecake i wouldn't risk it on friday, just in case.

bugger, really not? I whipped it, if that makes a difference?

What do you mean you'll have to eat it tonight? Have to? You're making it sound like a punishment.

DitaVonCheese · 10/02/2010 21:40

In my personal experience, cream seems to last well past its date (was it use by or best before?) so I reckon it would be fine on Friday BUT I also love cheesecake so very tempted by the eat-it-all-now option. You're not in the north-west are you?

ChickandDuck · 10/02/2010 21:45

The use by was 8th Feb, but it smells and tastes fine today. Would really like to take it on Friday. She will be shocked by my domesticatedness! Which of course could turn to horror if it's off! My fridge is really cold if that makes a difference?

I would go by smell and taste rather than the date printed on it. Taste a tiny little bit tomorrow and if it's starting to turn then scoff the lot

ChickandDuck · 10/02/2010 21:58

Thats essential is it Dita, regardless of any diet, a cheescake that starts to turn should be scoffed? IT is the law, yes?

Dita, I agree, but not sure if you can really taste it without it being obvious, and you don't want to risk just serving it up and it being vile (plus, huge cheesecake wastage!!)

i would def eat now and make another one lol

ChickandDuck · 10/02/2010 22:04

No more ingredients, else I would, trust me I would!

If that is problematic then you can slip it in a padded envelope and I'll deal with it for you

SexyDomesticatedDad · 11/02/2010 11:22

It'll be fine if its kept cold in fridge for a couple of days.
