Indian or Tapas?

I'm having some friends for dinner this weekend, and can't decide whether to cook them Indian or Tapas.

Indian, I'm confident and have done it many times - lots of different dishes.

Tapas, I've done only a few times with my fab new Jose Pizarro cookbook, but not that confident (but delicious!!)

They are both vegetarians, although he does eat fish - we eat meat, but I think I won't cook any at all.

So - Indian or Tapas!?

Why don't you do Indian Tapas?

meltedmarsbars · 09/02/2010 14:37

{snort!} at GOSt

meltedmarsbars · 09/02/2010 14:38

I've never seen the point of Tapas but love curries - in fact, have just made whole-lentil dal for tonight.

So my vote goes for Indian.

I read your title and thought 'I'd like to eat Tapas, but I'd prefer to cook Indian'.

Thats not helpful is it?! If I was your guest I would be bowled over that someone had taken the time to do tapas, coz I assume it is a total PITA doing so many different dishes.

If I were you I would do Indian as its much easier

Thanks for your replies!

GOSt, yes, that would be a good compromise. . Fiddley though...

Meltedamarsbars - I never understood tapas either until I went to Casa Brindisia, which inspired me to get the book which is just great, I love it now.
But curry is so yum too.

Fimble, actually I'd like to cook both and eat both! But that's just greedy. I think you're right though, Indian would be much easier, pappadoms and chutney, one starter, one curry, rice, naan (from Sainsbury's. Sorted. Tapas would be about 10 different things, several of which I haven't cooked before.

So, 2-0 to Indian so far...
Thanks folks!

Sounds lovely.
Your mates not a vegetarian though.

TrillianAstra · 14/02/2010 22:30

Sounds lovely. Coconut in curry is yum.

One of your mates is a vegetarian.

LOL at your name runnybottom!!
SHE is a vegetarian, HE is a pescatarian.
I served her curry before I added the prawns.
Of course.
It was rather good, if I may say so.
