Always looking for a good one that doesn't involve shedloads of cream.

I like to do baked sea bream with chermoula.

I did red snapper at the weekend. The fish was just roasted with garlic, olive oil and lime, then I made a tomatillo, jalepeno, onion and coriander salsa for side. Was lovely!

kedgeree

No, UK. I got them from Borough market in London. I love them, but they are hard to get hold of. I did try growing my own last year but they didn't take.

titferbrains · 03/02/2010 17:30

ooh lucky you, did you buy lots and freeze them? does that work? I often mean to go to borough on a friday w/my dd but it never pans out as I'm always disorganised and trying to do too many things at once.

Having a bit of a dull fish supper tonight, salmon tail fillet with some lemon and spinach rice and some sort of tomato salsa on top.

My DH loves this dish from Simon Hopkinson where you poach white fish and serve with a red wine, tomato and paprika sauce that I add a little chorizo to. sounds crazy but very tasty with plain potatoes and a steamed green veg. Fish needs to be nice and fresh tho.

To grow tomatillos here you need the hottest part of your greenhouse/sunroom.

My mother grows them very successfully and she is in the Pentlands so it is possible!

Fave fish: monkfish kebabs with bacon and veg, marinated in vinaigrette then grilled.

or:

Whole crab, pliers et al.

My homemade fishcakes

displayuntilbestbefore · 03/02/2010 21:52

posted before I'd finished, oops!

My homemade fishcakes - potato, seasoning, oatmeal and tinned sardines in olive oil

Grilled mackeral fresh from the sea

baked lemon sole with new potatoes and freshly shelled peas

I rarely do much with fish as it's such a tasty thing in its own right IMO

This is very yummy..

Fry a couple of white fish fillets - I love cod (season etc) then keep warm.

You need to have the rest of the ingredients all ready to go.

In the same pan fry some chopped spring onions and chorizo. After a few minutes add a can of green lentils (drained). Warm it all through, then add some chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Spoon some onto a plate, put fish fillet on top.

You wouldn't believe how tasty this is

I don't actually have a proper greenhouse, so was trying to grow them on a sunny windowsill, prob not really hot enough.

I didn't buy lots, because they were expensive and I don't think they would freeze well. They did have tinned too, but that jsut wouldn't be the same somehow!
I'd be at borough every week if I was near enough, but its a 25 mile drive for us through central London. The fish there is fab. And the fresh handmade pasta.

I like the sound of tomato, red wine and chorizo, dh would like that.
I also want to try that fish recipe on Gordon Ramsey's Indian programn that was on recently. Stuffed with tomatoes, onions, and spsices.

Bream or bass baked in a salt crust.

Prawns and linguine with a smidgen of pesto.

titferbrains · 04/02/2010 10:50

well I've got someone working on our tragic garden as I type, will ahve to ask about tomatillos!

Stirling have never tried tinned lentils, tho I'm a huge tinned pulses fan - will pick some up today!

Will also have to return to fish in salt crust, haven't done it for ages.

Chops I'm in a hurry now but will post the red wine recipe soon.
