Milk etc absorbing smells in fridge

I have no idea if I'm imagining this or just going mad, but my tea tastes garlicky - is this likely to be because the milk is being stored in its plastic carton in the fridge, along with a chicken carcass which is stuffed with garlic and smells very strongly? I thought that the plastic carton would protect it.

best way to ensure that your other food doesn't absorb strong odours is to fill a small pot or egg cup with bicarb of soda and store it in your fridge

Strong smells can permeate cartons. I remember buying foil-wrapped tea-bags from a shop that kept them next to the soap-powder... yes, you guessed it, they tasted of soap. You probably need to isolate the chicken carcass and wrap it up in plenty of cling-film and foil to stop cross-contamination.
