raclette - what else do you cook?

thanks to MN I have decided to buy a raclette grill and know where to buy the cheese! Last time I had a raclette, the host cooked ham and salami on the top, as well as the cheese underneath. What else do you seasoned raclette users cook? Am planning on buying one at the w/e for an informal supper. All suggestions welcome!!!

Ahh, my best friend's parents had one of these when we were teenagers, I remember thinking it was the height of sophistication!! All I can remember cooking on it was eggs in those little pans - sorry not much help but it made me to remember it!!

I've only had raclette once, at the house of a squeaky-clean newlywed cousin and his wife.
We had lots of raw veg with it, I think; bits of red pepper etc.
As they cleared it away, DH said, in jest, 'What's for pudding? Chocolate fondue?' and their faces fell.
They were using all their new wedding-list kit, it was rather sweet.

ooh, gnat, had only thought about using the pans for cheese, your eggs idea makes me think it would be good for breakfast for stopover friends with bacon/mushrooms etc on top. Caremelita, I really like the idea of one but wonder whether it would come across as naff????

See, so long as you KNOW it's naff, that's fine.

I make a big pan of boiled new potatoes and people slice them and top them with the cheese to toast under the grill bit. Meanwhile on top we cook mushrooms, peppers, onions etc. Meat eaters like salami and stuff cooked on top. Some people like to put sweetcorn in the little pans with the potatoes and cheese. I like sliced veggie hotdog sausages in mine.

Dp cooks eggs in the little pans but the idea makes me feel sick tbh.

Apple slices and cinammon cooked on top or slices of banana then put into the pans with marshmallows or choc chips to go melty.

One friend's son insists on cooking pickled onions on top! Blah - but I think you do need good pickles to serve with it and I like some cucumber in vinegar too.
