I can't decide whether to make this, or to keep the carrots out of it

We had it yesterday. really nice and i could tell the kids it was carrot soup (if I had served them artichoke there would have been howls of I don't like that before they had even tried it).

Could you taste the artichokes properly? Or did the carrots swamp them? And what colour was the soup?

I am wondering whether to do JA and chestnut soup instead, to big up the nuttiness of the JAs.

I have some JAs in my vg box and do not know what to do with them. Do they really make you fart as much as I have heard?

I have made this soup a few times. It is delicious, velvety smooth and you can definitely taste the artichokes. Be warned though - it makes you very windy!

I've never noticed their famous parpy side-effects.
Mind you, beans and lentils have no discernable effect on me, either. I must have a cast-iron constitution.
If you've never had them before, maybe you should experiment by having them for supper, rather than lunch? And keeping the bedroom window open a bit just in case.

P'raps I should keep them for Friday's tea, then

I definitely could taste the JS but not strong enough for the kids to comment. It was an orange colour. I would definitely give it a go.

I've made it - DH & I loved it. Would recommend to a friend! Think I used light chicken stock instead of veg though.
