People round for curry - do I need to do a pud?

We're having my DB and his girlfriend round tomorrow night. We have a toddler (who will be in bed) and I'm 30 weeks pg so rather than cook a meal we're ordering in a curry from the local takeaway (which is really delicious and lovely).

Do you think I need to do a pudding for afterwards? DH seems to think yes. I wasn't planning to - we'd never have one after having curry ourselves in the house. But maybe with guests I should? Or would a nice box of buscuits/cookies for people to have with coffee if they fancy one suffice?

And if I should do a pudding - what? Something light and refreshing...?

If anything, sorbet. But I don't think you really need to.

I'd buy some nice icecream or sorbet, so that if no one fancies any, it doesn't go to waste. I don't think you need anything more to offer after curry

if you do a pud, do something like sorbet, nothing much more than that as it is quite heavy, especially if you are having the works with puppadum/pickles, side dishes and naan/chapati.

I personally do not bother, take away is usually plenty, and as you say, get some nice chocolates to pick at with a coffee.

(Sounds lovely in fact, can i come?

You could just offer fruit/fruit salad or kulfi (Indian ice-cream which your takeaway place might have)

GrimmaTheNome · 29/01/2010 20:15

Or if you don't like sorbet, some nice fresh fruit like mango might go down well.

Intergalactic · 29/01/2010 20:19

So, um, sorbet then?

Think I will just buy one rather than making - we don't have an ice cream maker and I don't fancy worrying over whether it'll set!

Am liking the chocolates instead of biscuits idea .

Thanks all!

if it was me and i could be bothered i might do a tropical sort of fruit salad - mango, pineapple, lychees, passion fruit - as that is a a nice way to end after all that heavy food - sort of cleanses the palate after all the oil and spices! but usually people eat so much with indian that they're too stuffed for pud anyway so i don't think anyone will be expecting pud.
