What to do with museli

shinybaubles · 20/01/2010 12:17

Inspired after having museli in hospital to buy some - needless to say I don't like what I have bough, the museli in hospital was crunchy and this is soft. Can I do anything with it or is it destined for the bin? Is there anything I can make with museli?

flapjacks

crumble topping along with the usual flour, butter, sugar

biscuits

layered pudding

cream or thick yoghurt layered with stewed fruit/compote and muesli, keep layering until serving glasses full

delicious

or spread it on a baking tray and pop in the oven to crisp up and there you go, crunchy muesli that you might like!

displayuntilbestbefore · 20/01/2010 12:20

don't worry, I won't post any more

shinybaubles · 20/01/2010 12:23

Hmmm what are flapjacks are they like cookies or biscuits? Then I could get dh and ds to eat it instead of me .

Feed it to the birds?

shinybaubles · 20/01/2010 12:26

Really can I feed it to the birds - ds's school has been asking for bird food for a project they are doing and ds will be bringing home a bird feeder house thing next week?

flapjacks are made out of oats, golden syrup and sugar and baked in oven to be a soft and crunchy munchy treat

4oz butter
4 oz demerara sugar
1 tbsp golden syrup
7oz oats, or oats mixed with museli

mix, press into non stick baking tray and bake for about 15 mins at 180 degree C.

steamedtreaclesponge · 20/01/2010 14:25

Yes, you can feed it to the birds - I expect they'll be very grateful, given the dreadful weather we've been having!

Washersaurus · 20/01/2010 14:34

Make flapjacks or feed to the birds.

May I recommend Lidl Luxury Muesli to you for future testing

shinybaubles · 20/01/2010 14:44

That's it the birds get it and I can feel virtuous too - it was a Dorset one.

The museli at the hospital was in a red sachet and called Kellogs something... if anyone has any clues as to what it was.

washer is that a crunchy one?

Was it Kellogs Country Store?

Washersaurus · 20/01/2010 20:07

The Lidl one is a crunchy one - they do Luxury Fruit or Luxury Nut - we have the fruit one. We have tried all the other more expensive ones including Dorset ones and they aren't as nice.

Beasknees · 20/01/2010 20:09

cat litter?

Grin

Actually I was thinking of our box of granola when I posted before, I have no idea if Lidl muesli is crunchy as there is never any left when I come to eat it.

I resorted to making healthy muesli bars from Dorset cereal because no-one would eat it.

displayuntilbestbefore · 20/01/2010 23:40

granola is a delight all of its own IMO!
Leaves plain muesli in the shade

shinybaubles · 21/01/2010 18:04

display no it wasn't that one hmm may ask the hospital or get dh to ask. It was in a red bag.
What's granola is that crunchy museli - really want crunchy museli.
Thanks for all the replies.

shiny this is what you want I think. Utterly delicious range of crunchy muesli that satisfies the need for crunchy muesli.
Problem is it's very more-ish so it doesn't last long on the shelf

shinybaubles · 23/01/2010 08:41

Thanks display will get some today and try it
