I have a jar of roasted red peppers in viniger, I opened them on new years day (18 days ago) and put them in the fridge, I have just got them out to use again and it said once open use within 3 days?!? Why is this surly if they are in viniger and in the fridge they shoud last more than 3 days!

Will I make everyone ill if I use them?

if they have gone off the liquid will be cloudy looking, you wills ee white mould in it, and they will smell nasty. Otherwise, they'll be fine.

I think you'll be fine, loads of things say to use within three days and I use it months later. Also, long as they don't have anything dairy in i.e. feta etc then it should be ok!

What are you planning to use them in? I love roasted red peppers......

yum I might try that - do you have a recipe you could send me? x

chopstheduck · 19/01/2010 16:52

ooh I do that too. I put all sorts in, roasted peppers, onions, aubergines, pickled artichockes, whatever I have in.

Boil the water then chuck in as much Macaroni as you need.
Then I usally do a roux then add about 750ml milk, salt, pepper and a dash of paprika then when it has thickened up I add what ever cheese I have this time I have put in abag of grated montery jack and a bag of grated cheese mix oh and I add a squirt of nacho cheese topping (from the mexican food bit of the supermarket). Then add the chopped roasted red peppers, drain the Macaroni and mix it together sprinkle the top with breadcrumbs and bake in the oven for about 30-45 mins.
