Burgers. how can I use them as an ingredient rather than just as a burger in a bun?

We had a BBQ over christmas and one greedy hungry family didn't come. I am now left with about 40 burgers in the freezer which I'd like to use somehow. they are not cheap and gristly, they are more like a home made patty.
Anyone got any ideas?

They could perhaps masquerade as meatballs in some kind of pasta dish?

you could defost them chop them up and serve with some sort of meatbally sauce??

You could break them up and cook like a chilli?

Maybe a chunky shepherds pie?

Ohh I remember what I did last year in a similar vein I cooked them with some chilli and garlic made a tomato and onion salead in lemon juice then served them with yoghurty mint sauce on pittas.

I often make pasta sauce with sausage meat rather than mince, so you could treat burgers in the same way I imagine. Below are the two methods I use.

Either as others have said, defrost, chop into quarters and roll into meatballs, fry them in a bit of olive oil and then stir into pasta sauce.

Or microwave until cooked (they will look horrible and grey and grobbly but don't worry) then crumble them up with a fork or rubber gloves. Then treat as mince.

In either case, check before you salt the sauce, as sausages (and burgers) tend to be quite salty already.

If they're just mincemeat patties then defrost them and use like mince, just crumple them all up with your hands.

Or cut them into smaller bits and use instead of meatballs

Or cook as burgers but serve with mashed potatoes and veg instead of in buns

How big was this family that didn't come if you where left with 40 burgers? Seriously, 40?!?!?

Nick's idea sounds gorgeous btw! You could also mix in some lime and chilli and then pat them around wooden skewers and oven bake.

Would be like little home-made kebabs.

Thanks I am liking the sound of home made kebabs. The family in question are 5 in total but don't have an off button when it comes to food provided by other people. it is a different story in their house.............

I sometimes serve with gravy on a bed of mashed potato. Yum.
