why do you want to do that?

I mean, just freeze them without jamming them together, spread the jam and cream or whatever you are going to use when you are actually going to make the cake.

It's a long story 2010, not very interesting. Can I do it?

You can.

OK. Right. It's DD1's birthday cake. I need to cut it into a '6' shape, which is DH's job. He won't be around to do this the day before her birthday, which is when I want to ice it, so I thought I'd get him to cut them now. I'd rather sandwich them BEFORE cutting than fiddle about with them once cut.

Can I do it?

That makes perfect sense! You can even freeze cream if you wanted to add the cream buttercream filling

Thanks again
