What herbs do you grow for the kitchen?

Are they in pots/the ground?
Inside/outside?
And what ones can you still pick and use now?

I've never tried tarragon...

Basil, rosemary, mint, parsley and coriander. They're all in pots. The basil I keep in the kitchen and generally have to replace about twice a year. Mint, rosemary and parsley are outside and all seem to be doing fine in this weather. Coriander I currently keep in the kitchen but keep using it all up and throwing it away so need to plant in a large pot outside to generate the kind of volume I require (who knew one couple could eat so much coriander!?)

I have only tried thyme once and killed it quickly! When DH and I move house I intend to try again. I also want to grow some chillis.

Inside: basil, coriander (keeps dying on me though)and parsely

Outside: rosemary, thyme, sage and bay leaves

My thyme is outside - seems to manage without any interference from me.

Chillis are great and easy to grow - but do need heat to get a hot flavour - my ones on the sill at the mo are not hot at all.

Notasize10, I think coriander needs a surpring amount of water to keep it going. And it's a bit fragile, so I try to water more from the bottom than the top.

I wonder if thats it Bling- it is so fragile. I'll try watering from the bottom next time/ like you though we seem to go through it in no time at all!

rosemary, sage, mint and parsley outside in pots. Not sure how they are doing, but they are pretty well established (planted them 2-3 years ago) so shud be ok under the snow!

I try coriander, but kill it a lot, or it runs to seed, so that has to be replaced regularly.

Chillis on the window sills, but didn't have such a good year this year, and only the peach hanabaneros really took, they are still producing small chillis.
