Need some inspiration.

I have quite a few but I'm all cooked out at the moment.

I had Nigel Slater's Tender for Xmas and use his Kitchen Diary's and a Real Fast Cooking

Use Nigella's Express

Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food has been good

dip into Cranks, a few Good Food books and a few others

I have 1 fussy twin ds 6 but the rest of us the other dtwin 6,dd,dp and I love anything and everything. We eat meat but eat a lot of veggie food too.

What other essential books am I missing?

You need Delia

timelordvictorious · 07/01/2010 18:41

I got Rick Stein Coast To Coast last Feb and love it. River Cottage Everyday is a good one too.

paulaplumpbottom · 07/01/2010 18:42

I loved Apples for Jam and anything by Martha Stewart is great.

SuperBunny · 07/01/2010 19:34

Nigella's How to Eat & Delia for day to day basic stuff.

blametheparents · 07/01/2010 19:46

I subscribe to the Good Food Magazine which is great and has load of really usable recipes.
Made black bean chilli from this month's copy tonight and it was delicious. Even DH agreed and he normally needs MEAT for his dinner!

MadameDefarge · 07/01/2010 19:47

dizzie!

how is it going? My little gaff has got the builders in as we speak.....

I got the change of use! Yippee!

Now all I need to do is not run out of money....(hollow laugh)

mvemjsunp · 07/01/2010 19:49

I can also recommend the Ocado website.

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 20:36

MadameDefarge - how WONDERFUL I am delighted for you!! we're submitting the building warrant this week and hoping to hear from the main grant funders very soon I'll basically know by the end of the month whether or not this is going ahead [meep] the designs/sketches look fab though and luckily we've got a great architect on board

you don't happen to have a link to that original thread do you - I can't find it !!!

Batteryhuman · 07/01/2010 20:44

Riverford recipes are fab and they have produced a book too

MmeLindt · 07/01/2010 20:52

Dizzy
Oooooh, you are opening a cafe? You may not want to say where but could you CAT me so that I can come and eat scones visit when I am next in Scotland.

You are having scones, I hope?

Just looked at Avoca and realised that I have been in the Dublin one.

pointydig · 07/01/2010 20:53

Do you have a good baking cook book or do you want meals only?

I ask because I love Sue Lawrence's Book of Baking

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 20:53

MmeLindt - email me on [email protected] and will boreyoutodeath tell you all about it

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 20:54

pointydig did you used to be a dog!?!??! with no offence intended

pointydig · 07/01/2010 20:56

yes, once a dog always a dog.

I think I remember you asking for cafe names but I can't remmeber what your decision was. Or maybe you didn't tell us. Or was that someone else?

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 20:59

I was asking for cafe menu favourites and everyone piled on, it was great - I can't sodding find it for the life of me though

pointydig · 07/01/2010 21:01

ah yes, that's right.

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 21:08

sorry for complete hijack OP

MadameDefarge · 07/01/2010 21:10

I actually did a tally of all the faves....handwritten scrawl notes...I could copy them for you if that would help?

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 21:12

it was just to show to stickylittlefingers rather than hog the whole of the OP's thread as I think there was a touch of an explination on it thank you anyway - I was convinced it was in my 'watched' threads but its not and it was great

MmeLindt · 07/01/2010 21:20

Oh, and I have a wonderful cookery book if you like Italian food. Giorgio Locatelli is almost more of a journey though Italy and Locatelli's life than just a cookery book.

Recipes are great too.

dizzydixies · 08/01/2010 07:36

MMeLindt and sticky - neww thread started in food so we don't have to keep hi-jacking

apologies again OP, hope you're at least a little inspired by something we've suggested

MilaMae · 08/01/2010 11:05

I am and have enjoyed the highjack, I WANT the Avoca books but they're out of stock everywhere,do you think they're re-printing perhaps?

The Rachel Allen books look good too. Which are the best,dp would kill me if I ordered the lot?

Many thanks all have enjoyed looking at all the recommendations.

stickylittlefingers · 08/01/2010 11:15

could be - I'd keep them in your "basket" so you're told if they come available again. They are all really good, I think. I am like a bad addict and dealer when it comes to recipe books tho!

dizzydixies · 08/01/2010 13:04

MilaMae - the AVOCA website have them instock on there - I liked to it about, however you have to register and am not sure about delivery to ireland

I have Rachel Allen Bake, and Favourite Food at home - love them both. Bought her new one for MIL and am now covetting it myself - stick everything in your basket in amazon and save it for later and it will automatically tell you when the price drops

MilaMae · 10/01/2010 16:44

Thanks just found your post, not in Ireland so here's hoping.
