So has anyone decided to one-pot cooking next Xmas?!

DH cooked a goose with all the trimmings for ourselves and my parents on boxing day. Was a lovely meal, but very, very time consuming and fiddly, we didn't sit down until 1830 by which time the kids were too tired to really appreciate it.

Goose was lovely, but very expensive (£52 for a 5.7 kg bird) and to be honest I don't think worth the money. Am now perusing my one-pot recipe books for ideas next boxing day, do not want to be stuck in the kitchen that long again!

Any recommendations for simple one-pot dishes?

I have been exploring Delia's shortcuts book this Xmas and impressing the family!

have you got a slow cooker? Just bung in slow cuts of meat like lamb shanks, oxtail, beef brisket, whole chicken, with some veg and seasonings.

oh and wait for 12 hours or so.

We have friends who just have a succesion of lovely canapes all day on Christmas day. Then a traditional roast the day after. I am thinking of pinching their idea!

this is delicious.

I've served it for a festive evening dinner and also for a big multi-generational family lunch to celebrate my dad's 60th, and it went down well for both.
