How long between lunch and a nap?

Quick question. I always putt dd to sleep very soon after lunch, due to the fact I am badly in need of a break by then! Been feeling a bit guilty of this for a long time, as I'm sure the food has not yet settled in tummy....

Wondered how long to wait before putting to nap after lunch? DD sleeps about 12, but giving lunch earlier than 11.30 would seema bit crazy....

She's 22 months. Any ideas or tips on routine and times?

Thanks!

Will watch this with interest as my DD who is 16 months only manages to make it till about 12.30 if not before then before she wants to go down. I've had the same worry that she is going down on full tummy.

I know some people split lunch and give bit before and bit after when children wake but that doesn't really wake for us as she wants it all before she goes down.

I always used to put ds for a nap straight after lunch. If it is working for you and her then why change it?

I put my 2.2 year old ds down for his nap straight after lunch. He even now walks towards the stairs when he gets down from his lunch.
Personally, I love a post-lunch nap too

The children at the nursery where I work are put down for a nap as soon as lunch is finished. Pretty standard practice for nurseries. It frees up the staff to clear up and get the rooms straight again for when the children wake up.
If your routine works for you then there is no need to change it.
I don't really see the point in splitting lunch.

If it works, don't fret. DD1 is 2.3 and always has lunch some time between 11.30 and 12.15 then straight to bed via a nappy change. Can't keep her up any longer bless her. Enjoy it while it lasts!

(Thinking about it - I would enjoy a snooze after a big lunch, so why wouldn't they?)

I never understand this problem about going to sleep on a full tummy.

Ds used to fall asleep within minutes of lunch when he was a baby/toddler, sometimes still in his high-chair, and I'd put him straight down then.

Similarly, on those rare ocasions when we might be out late into the evening, we'll come home, and if he/we need a meal or substantial snack, we would have one and then go to bed.

Unless there are special circumstances (reflux probs or summink), I wouldn't think it's a problem.

TBH I think you'll have worse problems trying to keep a sleepy babe up, cos IMHE they get upset, then won't settle anyway.
