I want to make the nibbles the sunday before Christmas day so would really appreciate suggestions that I make, freeze and then just whack in the oven Christmas tea time (when tipsy so must be easy!)

I am thinking of doing these for my boxing day buffet

Chilli beef pies

Don't know if yoiu would want them christmas day though?

Would be intrested if anyone else had made them?

BeautifulDecay · 08/12/2009 21:51

They are perfect Rushing.

We are having quite a few friends over Christmas night so I'm planning on doing quite a spread.

Also like the look of these but not sure how far in advance you can make them.

Hopefully a wiser MN'er will be along to help

(you might be better reposting this in Christmas)

I do a version of these parma ham palmiers but with just parma ham and no smoked salmon. Freeze well and gone in seconds.

isn't it just mince pie, 10 quality streets and a glass of baileys?

why would you even invite people round xmas day night?

they will all have had a MASSIVE tunrey dinner

JaneiteMightBite · 08/12/2009 22:24

Only ten Quality Street?

I like cheese, crackers and pickled red cabbage for Christmas day 'tea' but that's nowhwere near sophisticated enough for a buffet!

dairymoo · 08/12/2009 22:27

Sausage rolls freeze well, as do mini samosas, cheese straws...

bigchris · 08/12/2009 22:28

piccalilli don't forget

and rennies, lol

BeautifulDecay · 08/12/2009 22:32

Because unfortunatly we have to spend most of Christmas day with my PIL, as soon as I can politely get rid of them, our closest friends are coming round to celebrate Christmas day properly.

This works well as my friend is also having to deal with her MIL on Christmas day. So we have planned very early Christmas lunches so we get rid wave goodbye early!

Husbands friend heard about it and invited himself, he is also bringing his wife and brother so will be a good night. Especailly as husbands friend is bringing round Rockband to amuse himself and the children.

I want nibbles I can leave out for people to munch on throughout the night whilst drinking.

Of course all this would be much easier if we didn't have MILs!

In that case, how about a lovely cheeseboard with some warm baguettes, served with Kettle Chips, grapes, celery, nuts etc?

We are having baked Camembert on Christmas Eve so think I'll skip the cheese board for my buffet

BeautifulDecay · 09/12/2009 15:54

Thanks for the sugestions, I think cheese board, nuts and sausage rolls will be good enough

We have a picnic on the living room floor - cheese, pate, crackers, crisps, grapes, mince pies, quality street and port until we all pass out
