Thanks - I tried it and it just looked funny - maybe butter was too cold.

Yeah, I think if you do it by hand you can tell if the butter is too hard and would zap it in the micro or leave it for a while. With the magimix the temptation is to just chuck it in and keep whizzing! Usually tastes ok but might not be as airy.

Find them fine ... don't forget to use a teaspoon of baking powder, even if you do use SR flour, to give an extra bit of lift. I've done two sponge cakes this way (chuck everything in together) in last two weeks and they have been really light and yummy!
