As it says really, I'm addicted to salt but want to cut down. Any suggestions? Thanks

LoSalt is only 30% sodium chloride.

LoSalt has potassium chloride replacing much of the sodium chloride. I'm not sure its wise to use too much of that either.

Best to gradually wean yourself off salt. Your tastes do adjust - I like salt but DH has to be very careful because of high BP. I've got used to lower salt food. Don't add much during cooking, add a bit at the table instead. Use other flavourings (lemon, herbs, spices) more.

yes I do use LoSalt already but would like to cut down completely. Just wondering if there were other products people had tried?

I cut it out completely much easier! I know loads of people that pile on salt and it is "Supposed" to bring flavours out...I found a good mix is sea salt, black paper, and chilli in one grinder and use that instead if adding Salt.....I think i got it in Asda or Tescos....

but doesn't sea salt contain sodium?

I agree with cutting out salt.

We do not have it on the table, which is a good start. I do all the cooking and try to use about 50% of what is recommended in recipes and use others herbs and spices instead. We also try to buy good quality food as well that actually has its own flavour that does not need enhancing with salt.

Sea salt is just posh NaCl. Mixing with pepper and chili as described could help reduce usage

Another idea is to use salty food like a condiment - bits of bacon rather than whole slices; make cheese sauce with Emmenthal (which is the only low salt cheese I know of) and just put a bit of cheddar or parmesan on top.

I make bread with no salt at all, which all the books say is a no-no but it works fine and you do get used to it. Wholemeal with seeds so its got some flavour of its own.
