Gammon! What size and which of Nigella's recipes to do?

I want to cook a gammon/ham for Christmas but am confused about the size. I have 2 recipes I'm tryign to choose between and for the same amoutn of people, one recipe suggests a 6.5kg bone-in ham and the other suggests a 3kg boneless ham. I presume that the weight of the bone is significant, so these different weights will contain about the same amount of meat?! Also, if I'm cooking it in liquid, is there any difference between getting a bonless or bone-in one? Does the bone add to the flavour or will it just make it too hard to carve? And what size do you think I should buy to feed 10 people for 2 meals, as part of a buffet (ie. it won't be the main part of the meal but just the odd slice or 2 each)

I adore Nigella's ham in Coke but has anyone tried her Fully Festive Ham? I fancied trying a new recipe but I wonder how that compares to the Coke one...

Thanks!

I'd go for the boneless one as it fits in a large pan (bone in requires a huge bucket!!) and cooks a bit sooner. Love the Nigella coke but not tried the festive one, apple juice and or cider are good for the liquid too.

Quantities, as part of a buffet I think it would do 2 meals but it can shrink a bit in cooking can't it?

Oh that's a good idea about the size of the bone -in one, I hadn't thought of that! Boneless it is. Cheers!

So anybody made the Festive Ham?

I don't know if this is her festive ham, but I made version last year and it was lovely.

meant to say 'this' version.

it's great in coke

MrsMattie, that link doesn't work. The Festive Ham is with cranberry juice, amongst other things...

Try the marmalade recipe in 'Jamie's Dinners', easy and not too sweet. Keep the stock!
