Hi,
I'd like some advice on a recipe I've just received in a Pampers eshot about 7 month old care. Its a veg soup recipe and says to use a tablespoon of veg stock powder in 500ml of liquid for the stock. Now I know I'm new to weaning but that sounds like a lot of salt for a 7 month old (it doesn't advise to use a no or even low salt stock powder). It boils the soup for quite a while (concentrating the salt more) then says you can reduce liquid further by boiling again if its too runny. It does talk about 'individual portions' but it doesn't advise how many portions it would make (possibly limiting salt consumption). I know my DS would snaffle quite a lot of this no trouble. Am I being neurotic? (Probably) Thanks for your help.
I've taken out the waffle and left the relevant points in, as follows:
VEGETABLE SOUP
...It's easy to make and individual portions can be frozen in an ice cube tray once cooled.
Ingredients
250g potatoes
150g carrots
150g parsnips
150g swede
1 leek, white part only
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon of vegetable stock powder
a little olive oil
To make:
........Make the vegetable stock by adding the powder to half a litre of boiling water, then set aside.........Pour in the vegetable stock, bring to the boil and simmer the soup for a further 12 minutes..........If the mixture contains too much liquid, boil the mixture on a high heat for a few minutes before removing from the heat.Alternatively, if you require a more runny soup for your baby, add freshly boiled water as you blend to achieve the desired consistency.
