It's DS's 5th birthday in a few weeks, he's having his first real party that isn't just hotdogs and party games in the living room.

Have always just got something from asda/tesco.... but wondering about getting a better looking cake this year if i can. Have just looked on M&S site and found this cake.... looks like the sort of thing DS would like... otherwise it's ben 10 sort of thing.

With a 9mo and 3.5yo also i haven't the time to make one myself [bad mummy smiley] so just wondered if anyone had any reasonably priced suggestions? Dont really want to spend more than £40 as his party is costing too much already. And it's only needed to feed about 20...

We got a photo cake from Asda and put a baby photo of dd on it - it was only about £8 for the smaller sized one.

Also i can't decide wether to let DS have a say in it or wether to just surprise him... no doubt he'd pick the cheapy ben 10 or power ranger one... which would save some £££'s at the right time of the year, but i'd also love to get him one that was a little more special as it's his first proper party.

In previous years i've got the photo cakes, that you mentioned Seona, or have bought a plain cake and iced his name etc on and just put candles in...
